Hello!

My name is Boyoung (‘Bo-Young’). I am a research professor at George Mason University Korea in South Korea. I am affiliated with the Center for Security Policy Studies-Korea.

My research revolves around the notion that, despite having different minds, people form and maintain a society together. To do so, people have to make inferences about other minds, weigh their own and other people’s interests in daily decisions, learn and uphold social norms and moral values, and, at times, enforce norms by way of sanctions and advice. I seek to examine these topics in the contexts of both Human-Human Interaction and Human-Robot Interaction.

My research topics include the Theory of Mind, Morality, Social norms, Microaggression, and Human-Robot Interaction.

I received a Ph.D. in Psychology from Brown University. And I received a Master of Science in Experimental Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology Intensive Program from Korea University. I was a postdoctoral research fellow at the United States Air Force Academy’s Warfighter Effectiveness Research Center and George Mason University Fairfax Campus.
